It all started about 1970 when Jerry Riek bought a small group of Herefords. After selling out in the late 80's, that led to his son, Jeff and grandsons wanting to continue on with the beef business. Jeff started out with about 25 crossbred cows until the market changed and Black Angus became more profitable. It was then that they learned more about cattle and began building towards a better heard by purchasing some top registered Angus bulls.
Since then, the herd has grown to all Registered Black Angus which we have been able to breed some excellent genetics and temperament into our herd.
Jeff & Teri run about 25 cow/calf pairs at their farm north of Boyceville, WI.
Josh (Jeff's son) along with his wife Angie and their kids run about 40 cow/calf pairs, 12 heifers and 15 steers and 10-15 bulls on their farm west of Wheeler, WI. Josh & Angie's kids, Madysn and Ashton both have their own cattle and enjoy working on the farm.
Of course we wouldn't be where we are today without the help of a lot of family members and friends throughout the years. A special thanks goes out to them for sure.
Riek's Black Angus pushes for docility, maternal traits, fertility, udder quality, carcass, growth and fleshing ability.
